WGU is an NWCCU-accredited non-profit four-year online university based in Salt Lake City, Utah. WGU emphasizes the acquisition of essential skills and knowledge rather than credits. All WGU students must know the material well to pass the many rigorous assessments. The university offers 50 online degree programs in the colleges of business, teaching, information technology and health professions.

WGU students aspiring to become a human resources professional earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Human Resources Management degree. Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recognizes WGU’s human resources undergraduate degree program as aligning with the society’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates. Students can also join the school’s SHRM chapter and seek human resources certification.

4. Midwestern State University

Midwestern State University started in 1922 as a municipal junior college that operated out of a high school building. Today, MSU is an independent, four-year public liberal arts college that has 70 buildings on 255 acres in Wichita Falls, Texas.

MSU offers 16 undergraduate programs and nine graduate programs. You can earn an online human resources degree at the master’s level at MSU. In fact, the Master of Arts in Human Resources Development degree program is only taught online. However, you’ll first have to earn your undergraduate human resources degree on campus because MSU’s undergraduate human resources courses are application-based and include internships.

MSU is the only public institution in Texas that focuses on liberal arts. It’s also the only Texas university that is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. MSU is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS COC).

5. Missouri Southern State University

U.S. News and World Report cited MSSU as being one of the nation’s top 10 most affordable universities. MSSU Online allows Kansas and Oklahoma students to enjoy Missouri in-state tuition, along with some counties in Arkansas and Illinois.

MSSU students seeking an online human resources degree must earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management. One caveat, however, is that you would have to attend a community college for the first two years before you can finish up this degree through MUW online. You can then also obtain your Master’s in Business Administration degree online from MUW, if you wish.

Whether you get your education at MUW on campus or online, both options offer small, personable classes and low tuition. MUW is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS COC).
